BELGRADE - A number of foreign citizens were arrested last Tuesday by Serbian police after authorities discovered an illegal gambling ring in the country, said the Interior Ministry.
The arrested expatriates were suspected of running an organized gambling enterprise without permits from the Serbian National Lottery and the Games of Chance Administration under the the auspices of the Ministry of Finance. Authorities claimed that the foreigners provided gambling services for a large number of Europeans and Americans through two gambling websites - gowildcasino.com and casionolitan.com.
Police further claimed that bets received from the gambling activities were being used to fund illegal activities in Serbia. They said bets were electronically deposited to offshore accounts and then transferred back to Serbia for illegal use.
