ROME, ITALY - Lottomatica Group S.p.A. subsidiary, GTECH Global Services Corportation, was recently announced to have sealed a 10-year contract with the Shenzhen Welfare Lottery Center (SZWLC), a leading Chinese operator.
Under the terms of the deal between GTECH and SZWLC, the former will be tapped to upgrade SZWLC's keno system as well as sell online lottery games, and expand SZWLC's terminal base. The Rhode Island-based Lottomatica subsidiary will also be involved in providing ongoing software, operations, and marketing services to SZWLC. The project is set to commence in May 2011.
SZWLC manages and operates lottery games in the city of Shenzhen in China and if things work out as planned, GTECH's contract can be extended by the Chinese gaming firm for another three years through two 18-month extension periods.
GTECH President and CEO Jaymin Patel expressed his enthusiasm for the deal:
"We are pleased to have this opportunity to increase the range of lottery solutions and services we provide to Shenzhen Welfare Lottery Center. This deeper relationship in Shenzhen is strategically important for GTECH as we look to further expand our footprint in China."
GTECH will be replacing SZWLC's current operating system with the former's Enterprise Series solution as well as replace all existing lottery terminals with the Altura GT1200 lottery terminals. GTECH will also implement the ES Connect B2B solution to hook up all third-party vendors with the new central system.
GTECH will also be providing hotline and operational support services to SZWLC for the duration of the contract.
