FRANCE -- French online gambling regulatory body ARJEL has upped the total of legal gaming websites that can be frequented by French men and women enamored with online gambling.
Italian operator Microgame was awarded by ARJEL an online sports betting license last Friday for a couple of its websites -- Peoplesbet.fr and PeoplesNetwork.fr. This will allow Microgame to capture the French online gaming market in the same mold as its People's Network site in Italy is one of the nation's largest online poker and bingo communities with around 1.4 million registered players.
ARJEL also awarded to the website WPT.fr, a World Poker Tour branded poker website owned and operated by online gaming giant PartyGaming. The license was issued to PartyGaming subsidiary Electraworks which also manages the group's French-facing gaming sites such as PartyBets.fr, Gamebookers.fr, PartyPoker.fr, ActPoker.fr, and LuckyJeux.fr.
So far, the French regulator has awarded a total of 70 licenses to 35 operators.
