12Bet to Sponsor Wigan's Shirts

ISLE OF MAN -- After opting not to renew its sponsorship of Sevilla FC in Spain, online gaming company 12Bet has found a new marketing partner in the Premier League's Wigan Athletic.

12Bet will be the shirt sponsor of the English football club as part of a two-year partnership which also calls for 12Bet to be the club's official betting partner. According to a statement from Wigan, the deal is "the most lucrative shirt sponsorship in the club's history".

Last May, 12Bet opted not to renew its sponsorship of the Spanish football insisting that the matter had no connection with the company's application for a Spanish e-gaming license whose status remains unclear.

According to 12Bet's European CEO Rory Anderson:

"(The deal would) Give us great exposure both in the UK and globally, providing the perfect platform to promote our core proposition; in play football betting."

Wigan Athletic's Head of Marketing, Commercial and Retail Neil Ryan also commented on the deal:

"To have secured such a substantial fee from a high profile brand like 12Bet demonstrates clearly where the club is going."
