MACAU, S.A.R. - Receiving news that gaming operators are engaging on a "war" to attract more junket business has caught the attention of the Macau government and it said authorities are "keeping an eye" on things to prevent any harmful competition.
Macau Secretary for Economy and Finance Francis Tam Pak Yuen said:
"We don't want to see gaming enterprises using commissions to compete in a harmful way."
According to Tam, authorities have had no reports of gaming operators violating any junket rules but news reports said that MGM Macau has been extending credit to junket operators in order to add in more business. Reportedly among the beneficiaries of this credit grants are David (Dawei) and Neptune which in turn has helped up the profit of MGM Macau.
