MACAU, S.A.R. - The coffers of Southeast Asian gaming hub, Macau, continues to be filled with the special Chinese territory recording a new monthly record in terms of gaming revenue.
For October, Macau registered a US$ 2.36 billion gaming revenue, a 50% year-on-year increase over the same month last year when October 2009 had US$1.58 billion.This achievement also confirmed Macau's gaming industry as the world's biggest.
As of the end of October, Stanley Ho's SJM Holdings Ltd. led Macau's six casino licensees capturing 33% of the market, up 2% from September. SJM was followed by Sands China with 19%. Coming in at third is Melco Crown Entertainment led by James Packer and Lawrence Ho with 14% market share, down two notches from September figures.
Wynn Macau Ltd. had 13% of the market for fourth spot followed by MGM Macau who was up a percent from September at 11%. Galaxy Entertainment's share of the gaming market fell two notches from September and was at last place with a 10% market share.
